Hobby Nels retired as a project manager from Ford Motor Company after a thirty-three year career. Hobby held numerous positions in manufacturing operations, engineering, and electronic component purchasing. Hobby holds a bachelor of science degree from Cleveland State University and an associate of science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Hobby is a licensed residential building contractor with the State of Michigan.
Hobby has two sons who were educated at MMS and, over the past thirty years, he has been associated with MMS in a number of capacities. In 2002, Hobby served as the Construction Project Manager during the construction of the North Campus, which houses the Meadow Montessori’s Early Childhood and Elementary Buildings. In 2017, Hobby reprised his role as Construction Project Manager and oversaw the construction of the South Campus, which houses the new MMS high school.
Hobby also serves on the Monroe County Historical Commission, the Monroe Labor Museum and the Board of Directors for the Monroe Center for Health Aging.
