Week 2 AM - That's for the Birds! Birdhouse Building June 18, 2018 - June 22, 2018 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM - Instructor: Whitney Bednarz Class Maximum 25 Bird, Bird, Bird, Bird is the word…or birdhouse, that is! Join Ms. Whitney to treat your feathered friends to a new condo. You will also learn about local birds, and do a bit of birdwatching on our campus. There is a $5 supply fee that is due to the instructor on the first day of camp.
Week 2 PM - Toon Time with Mr. Brad June 18, 2018 - June 22, 2018 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM - Instructor: Brad Schreiber Class Maximum 25 Brad Schreiber will be teaching cartooning at MMS again this year! Students will learn to draw famous cartoons, write a storyboard, and create their own characters. There is a $5 supply fee payable to instructor Brad Schreiber for supplies that students will use during the week then take home after the camp.
Week 3 AM - ** Cancelled ** June 25, 2018 - June 29, 2018 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM - Instructor: Tina Valentine This is a hands-on summer course for field biology! Students will learn the basics of ecology, geology, botany, and entomology through outdoor activities and exploration of our ecosystem. Students will create field journals and a make a few crafts. The majority of the course will be spent in our great outdoors, and you might even end up at the Calder-Piedmonte farm!
Week 3 PM - Ni Hao! Learn Chinese June 25, 2018 - June 29, 2018 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM - Instructor: Carol Yuan Learn Chinese, or if you're a current Chinese language student, keep up with your Chinese through the summer! This fun camp will cover the basics of Chinese language, Chinese culture, and everything in between! You will learn basic expressions and by the end of the camp you'll want to travel to China!
Week 4 Full Day Camp - On the Farm July 9, 2018 - July 13, 2018 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM - Instructors: Catharine Calder and Whitney Bednarz Class Maximum 25 This full day camp will give students a taste of what life is really like living on a farm. Students will be working with their hands, the soil, and preparing food daily. Students should wear clothes they can “work” in and pack a water bottle, sunscreen, bathing suit and towel daily. There is a $20 supply fee due on the first day of this camp.
Week 5 Full Day Camp - Camp Invention July 16, 2018 - July 20, 2018 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM - Camp Invention, a national STEAM camp created by the National Inventors Hall of Fame, will be held at MMS again this year! Let’s invent the future today! Fast Forward to Camp Invention’s new 2018 program where campers will explore with fun, hands-on activities that encourage creative problem solving, teamwork, entrepreneurship and curiosity. At the end of the program, each camper will bring home two personalized robots! Week 6 AM - Arts, Crafts, & More! July 23, 2018 - July 27, 2018 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM - Instructor : Tina Valentine Class Maximum: 25 This week will be dedicated to working with all sorts of arts and crafts! Students will have the opportunity to make several projects as well as explore Meadow’s campus and have plenty of outdoor time to inspire art and crafts! There is a $10 supply fee payable to the instructor the first day of camp.
Week 6 PM - Secret Agent Camp July 23, 2018 - July 27, 2018 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM - Instructor : Moe Aronson You are a secret agent….and you have a MISSION. But, first you need TRAINING! Join us for a week of becoming a secret agent. Learn how to be a world class spy with surveillance techniques, undercover maneuvers, and code breaking. Use binoculars…and even use metal detectors to find hidden clues! Word is that a real Special Agent may even stop by and help train the class!
Week 7 AM - STEAM Robotics Camp July 30, 2018 - August 3, 2018 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM - Instructor: Tina Valentine Class Max – 15 students This robotics camp will feature Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics! Learn basic design, building, programming, and mechanics with ‘Dot & Dash’ robots. Create a video game using Bloxels and an iPad. Solve puzzles with block coding on Code.org. Explore ‘Makey Makey’ where everyday objects can be turned into touchpads that you combine with computers, and Ozobots which are programmed using simple lines on paper.
Week 7 PM - Music Camp July 30, 2018 - August 3, 2018 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM - Instructor: Katelyn Gilbert Let's play with music! In this camp, we will be making a game out of everything, while at the same time reviewing musical elements such as notes on the staff, composers, and famous pieces of music. We will even make our own instruments! There is a $10 supply fee due to the instructor on the first day of class.

This is your chance to run around and play in the water. Swimwear and towel are daily must-haves for this camp. Please bring sunscreen, water bottle, and a snack daily too.

Week 9 AM - Cake Boss, Kid Style! August 13, 2018 - August 17, 2018 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM - Instructor: Donita Auxter Have a great week of fun learning the basics of cake decorating! You will learn to use different decorating techniques using butter cream, royal icing, and even fondant. During the week we will be making and decorating cupcakes, cookies, and other goodies. There is a supply fee of $8 due to the instructor on the first day of camp.
Week 9 PM - Stitchin' & Knittin' August 13, 2018 - August 17, 2018 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM - Instructors: Tatiana Howard & Tina Valentine Make something cool! This camp opens with Ms. Tatiana, who will teach you both finger knitting and basic knitting on Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday through Friday, Ms. Tina will teach you sewing basics! You will come away from this class with a good amount of sewing & knitting knowledge - and something you can take home and use too!
Week 10 AM - Cooking with Chef Meku August 20, 2018 - August 24, 2018 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM - Instructor: Mekulash Baron-Galbavi Calling all young chefs! Chef Meku, famous for his gourmet cooking skills and out-of-this-world apple crisp, will be helping you sharpen your culinary skills. From food prep to presentation, kitchen safety to proper food handling. There is a $15 supply fee payable to the instructor on the first day of camp.
Week 10 PM - Yoga in the Meadow August 20, 2018 - August 24, 2018 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM - Instructor: TBD Improve strength, flexibility, and coordination! You will learn how to focus and center yourself with various breathing and visualization techniques. Practice fun and challenging poses, partner and group poses, lots of yoga games, breathing and basic anatomy. You will also learn about inner strength, self-respect, and respect for others. Campers should bring a yoga mat, towel, and a labeled/filled water bottle every day.
