It is the policy of Meadow Montessori School to provide a quality Montessori experience for as many children as possible. Admissions are not limited for reason of race, color, creed, sex, national origin, or religion.

Toddler18 Months - 3 Years
Preschool3 Years - 6 Years
Lower Elementary (Junior Class)6 Years - 9 Years
Upper Elementary (Intermediate Class)9 Years - 12 Years

MMS High School15 Years - 18 Years

MMS is first and foremost a community. As a Montessori school we embrace the vision Maria Montessori held for education and understand that learning is the ultimate tool with which we will build a peaceful world. As a community of life-long learners, we meet the needs of students from birth through age eighteen and sincerely hope that the spark of learning burns brightly in the homes of all our families. Meadow Montessori enrolls 200 students each year who represent the racial, economic, and religious diversity of Monroe County and the surrounding communities. Families have traveled to our location from points in Michigan as far as Grosse Pointe, Ann Arbor, Adrian, and Jackson, as well as Toledo, Ohio. This demonstrates the appeal of Meadow Montessori to a broad range of families.

We believe people from different races, cultures, socio-economic backgrounds, genders, physical capacities, and religions are sources of strength that enrich teaching and learning at Meadow Montessori. We build a diverse learning community by acknowledging that different ideas, beliefs, personal gifts, life experiences, and talents are essential to our community.

We accept new students on an eight-week trial basis. At the end of that period, the teacher and Head of School determines if the student and our school community are a match. If it is clear that the student and the school community are not compatible, the student is withdrawn from the program, and no tuition is refunded. All new families to our school participate in the tuition insurance program.

General Application
Parent Questionnaire
Student Questionnaire
Teacher Recommendations

Admission to MMS is selective, and not all applicants are admitted.

The application fee for applicants in the United States is $35.00, $100.00 for all international applicants (non-refundable).

Required Visit and Interview
Every family should both tour and observe the school. Students wishing to apply to the elementary or secondary programs must visit MMS for at least a half-day. We will pair you with a current student so you can attend classes and participate in the daily life of the school. During your visit you will also have an interview with a member of the admission team during which we will engage in a conversation with you about your current school, why you want to attend MMS and how you like to spend your spare time. The interview is informal, but is part of the admission process.

Decision Notification Dates
Students are admitted throughout the year to the early childhood programs, although we strongly urge new families join us in the fall.

Re-enrollment begins for MMS elementary and secondary students in February and is open to the public after March 15. Admission is on a rolling basis based on availability.

Waitlist
After the initial February deadline, the Admission Office continues to process applications and mail decisions for each level until it is fully enrolled. There are waiting lists for some programs, throughout the summer we may offer admission to students from that list.

Scholarships

Work Scholarships
MMS is proud to offer tuition assistance to families who qualify through our Work Scholarship Program. Work scholarships are available to families in all of our programs, with the exception of the Nest (infant program). Work scholarships are granted to families who:

  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Demonstrate a long-term commitment to MMS
  • Are able to provide a necessary and useful service to MMS
  • At the elementary and secondary levels, work scholarships are available for families whose children meet academic requirements.

Application for Work Scholarships
Current families enrolled in our programs apply for a work scholarship at the time of re-enrollment. All applications are submitted to a third-party source (electronically), which shares with MMS the amount of tuition assistance the family qualifies to receive. The family bears the cost of submitting the application.

Families new to our programs who wish to qualify for work scholarship assistance follow the same procedure at the time of their enrollment.

Awards
Work scholarships are awarded first to qualifying families who are currently enrolled in our programs. Additional awards are granted as long as the school is in need of additional services / work, and the family(ies) meets the financial qualifications.

Financial Responsibilities

  • Work scholarship recipients must participate in the Annual Fund.
  • Work scholarship recipients are responsible for all supply fees.
  • Are able to provide a necessary and useful service to MMS
  • Work scholarship recipients will not be granted a new scholarship unless all ledger charges have been paid.
